The short version
- This website has no forms and collects nothing by itself.
- No cookies are set unless you accept them in the banner.
- When you WhatsApp us, we only use what you send to quote and do the job.
- We never sell your information to anyone.
What we collect and why
When you message us on WhatsApp or call
You send us your phone number, your postcode, photos or video of your waste, and whatever you write in the chat. We use this to give you a quote, book the collection, and carry out the job — the lawful basis is taking steps to enter a contract with you. Address details you share for a booking are used for that booking only.
When you browse this website
If — and only if — you accept the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (which pages are visited, which buttons start a WhatsApp chat). This data is aggregated and doesn't identify you personally. The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (see Cookies below). If you decline, the site works identically and nothing is set.
A note about WhatsApp
WhatsApp is operated by Meta. Messages you send us are end-to-end encrypted in transit, but your use of WhatsApp itself is governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy. If you'd rather not use WhatsApp, call us on 07874 463189 instead — same service, same price.
Cookies
By default this site sets no cookies at all. Your choice in the cookie banner is stored in your own browser (localStorage), not in a cookie. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets its measurement cookies (names beginning _ga); these expire after up to 13 months.
Change your cookie choice — this reopens the banner so you can accept or decline again.
How long we keep things
WhatsApp conversations, quotes and job photos are kept for [X months] after the job, then deleted. Waste transfer records are kept for the period the law requires (currently two years for transfer notes).
Who we share it with
Nobody, except the services that make the business run: WhatsApp/Meta (messaging), Google (analytics, only with your consent), our website host, and — where the law requires — the Environment Agency or other authorities in connection with waste transfer documentation. We never sell or rent your details.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and object to or restrict how we use it. Email info@scoopwastemanagment.com and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
